Energy Roadmap
The Energy Roadmap serves as both a strategic energy plan for a whole industry, and a ‘how-to’ guide for individual organizations within an industry cluster.
There are two versions of the Roadmap: First, the ‘whole-industry’ Roadmap is generally used as a ‘funding’ document for sharing with resource providers (like a US DOE or other large organization) interested in supporting macro-level activities guiding the industry toward achieving the goal. Second, an Industry Cluster Members’ Roadmap provides strategic direction and a logical process for energy management efforts that contribute to industry’s energy intensity reduction goal.
Added benefits of the Energy Roadmap include:
• Alignment of expertise and partnerships for initiative participants: NEEA, utilities, trade allies, local government partners, vendors and consultants.
• Presents clear expectations and outcomes with templates and tools that allow Cluster Members to create ownership and implement their own initiatives.
• Entire industry group can scale solutions regionally, rather than facility-by-facility or company-by-company
The increasing importance of engaging an industry’s entire supply chain —including utility partners— demonstrates the practical economics that occur when an entire system (or cluster of industries) works together. Focused channeling of resources and opportunities also fosters the exchange of experiences and best practices during development and implementation of Strategic Energy Management (SEM) within a comprehensive ‘Energy Roadmap.’
