BA MarketingCharles DoerrieCharles seeks innovative answers to multiple questions within a business framework. As a student at Portland State University, he made it his mission to cross typical business strategies with a heightened concern for sustainability and design. In doing so, he was able to broaden his understanding of those concepts and apply them to real world situations. Charles’ focus in the field of Marketing helps to utilize his degree to increase public awareness of practical and sustainable solutions to daily problems.
BA International StudiesRyan LangsdorfVigorously exploring the interface of culture, politics, economics and psychology through his university studies, as well as his efforts outside the classroom, Ryan developed a passion for exploring sustainability, the issues it compels and the people whom it touches. After graduation, Ryan took interests abroad, contributing to sustainable business efforts in Australia and New Zealand. Ultimately, his love of the Pacific NW brought him back to Portland where he is able to cultivate his passions for cooking, music, snowboarding and the outdoors along with his interests in sustainability.
BA in Journalism with emphasis in Magazine & Advertising
Paul AndersonPaul Anderson is not a student in the formal sense of the word. His education continues through his family, friends, and himself. Paul claims it’s a crash course in real life with simple assignments: Reflection on his values, goal setting and paying the bills. In addition to his new classroom setting, Paul fancies himself as a decent writer, as his journalism degree from the University of Oregon would suggest. While completing both the advertising and magazine tracks in journalism school, he discovered his talents for conceptual and narrative creativity stemmed from the same source: a search for The Truth. He plays guitar, secretly aspires to become a rock star, and hopes to someday earn a five-figure income.
BA Advertising ManagementMichael SchatzMichael’s first passion has always been music. The creative expression and powerful synergistic relationships formed by sharing and playing music deeply attracted him. Severely lacking maestro status, Michael decided to study business upon entering Porland State University. Quickly discovering accounting to be the bane of his existence, Michael gravitated towards advertising. Here, he excelled using the same talents that he honed playing music to orchestrate superior work with those around him. Michael enjoys Gibson guitars, microbrews, sustainability and obscure Japanese Horror films, Michael does not enjoy anything with tentacles, clowns and Barry Manilow.
